Cleaning Cartridge Bearings Using a Lathe Then Applying Grease
Переглядів 1,5 тис.6 місяців тому
Although the bearing is clean, u must realize there is still small pits in the balls themselves from dirt and grim particles , for a bmx crank, this will be fine, if your cleaning bearings for maybe a small engine or something more critical, your better off just replacing the bearings. Cheers!!

Wooden oven powder coating success!!!
i was almost 3/4 through the video before i realized you were working on a classic mini lol
Lmao yea that’s all I work on except for wen I make a random video about nothing 😂
@@klegraefe hell yeah. I just imported my 89 to the states last month. Bought it 3 years ago in Italy
@@RaveJolt oh shit!! Better late than never!! 👊🏻🤘🏻
Love BMX old school
It's good that you fixed it up, I sure hope you tell people that when you sell it. Gave mine a double take after seeing this lol cool video
I wish it was mine 😅, I was just fixing it up for my buddy. Always nice to save a frame wen possible especially an FBM🙏🏻👊🏻
@@klegraefe Yeah, but got to be careful because people try to pass stuff like that off as original and such. You did such a good job it would take someone who really knows what to look for to notice it being fixed in this manner. Still a cool video and great job. Glad mine is original!
@@twiztidsidfreak13 absolutely, i actually think he put it together and is now riding it haha
Them wheels are as cool as penguin piss what are they?
Lmao 😂. They are Image Wheels BB4’s

Hey man, I'm in the process of doing exactly the same as your mini, any tips? Things you'd do differently? Also what weight did you end up with in the end? I'm trying to keep the weight as low as possible for the bike engine. Love the channel!
I don’t no where to begin haha, the car is absolutely amazing hands down. Sad thing is, I don’t drive her that much, main reason being, I never got the reverse to work as I wanted to, it does work but I don’t really like how it is, plus it’s an absolute rocket ship, if your building a racecar, I would do this, if ur building a street car, for around town and such, I would not recommend the street motor, a lot of hi revs and with no reverse, it makes it sometimes difficult to drive In public especially in traffic hahah. Overall though, I’d say it was an Easier build being u have a much smaller wiring loom, and most of the components are small and can pretty much fit anywhere in the car, biggest challenge was fitting a slim enough tunnel for driveshaft and exhaust while keeping enough room inside the car to fit a proper seat, the tunnel makes it super tight inside basically. As for weight, I have no idea. My best guess is somewhere around 1700lbs I appreciate you watching man thank you 🙏🏻
Your tool doesn't do nearly as well as theirs because your RPM's are probably double or tripple what they should be even with you turning it down. The harbor freinght one is way better than this method and the Eastwood is a bit better quality than the HF version. The RPM's is the key to making this device work properly.
I wish you actually spoke and explained In depth on what tools, techniques and materials you used, especially for the mounts. It would’ve been more informative for people tackling this with no experience. Nevertheless, everything came out good.
I agree. That is completely my fault but in my crappy defense, I’ve never made mounts from scratch b4 and this was fully just guessing and checking. I thought the video was somewhat followable. But you are right, I need to try and explain more. Appreciate your opinion 🙏🏻🙏🏻👊🏻
Is the music always this shit
For the most part yes hahah. Until I find a new catchy jingle I can use without there being issues 😂. I’m open to options
Glad to have you back. We appreciate you. Good luck in the new shop.
🤞🏻🤞🏻 it’s good to be back it has been an exhausting 2-3 months hahaha
Awesome buddy. Nice shop
Appreciate you man! Ur message really made me get a video out asap hahah. I’m gonna try to get at least 1 to 2 vids out every month 🤣😬
@@klegraefe good to hear mate, you are really good at what you do and love how you make everything 👍🏻👌🏻💪🏻
@@skidmores.garage same to you man! Your cages always come out so flawless!!
Love the new shop tour and good to see you back 19:20 .....and the Mini is looking Sick.😉❤
Absolutely, so much was going on and I couldn’t handle it, my brain was turning to mush. I had to wait until I was ready to start these vids up again. 🙏🏻🙏🏻✌🏻✌🏻
Yeeess hes back! Great to see the progress, and the new shop is awesome! That wiper arm haha, for a moment i thought it was gonna have to be redesigned completely but it just cleared.
For sure, I’ve really taking a liking to the Audi/vw wipers, when mounted solid, there’s bearly any flex and works 1000 times better than the stock mini wipers, but yea it is a bigger unit for sure. That little moon shape I grinded out made all the difference, and I believe there’s still enough meat on the arm that it should hold up just fine. We shall see!! 🤞🏻😅
Fuel filler system is amazing!
Appreciate it!!! I forgot to mention the fuel cell a cheap generic 15 gallon tank and I was so surprised how well it fit between those back A post bars in the boot, it made life so much easier a saved a ton of modifications. 😮💨🙏🏻✌🏻
Great to see a new video and progress on Project Brass. Fantastic shop and updates. You worked hard to expanding operations. 👍👌
The time and effort has definitely been worth it😮💨. Appreciate you Gafrers🙏🏻🙏🏻
It’s great to catch up and I appreciate the greatest hits soundtrack.
Lmao. Im really digging “the price is right” riffs lately 👊🏻🤙🏻😅😆
Great to see you again mate. New shop looks good and fantastic work on the car !
It looked really nice right after we painted everything, but then the ole angle grinder came out to play and immediately threw dust and dirt everywhere hahah. 😅👊🏻🙏🏻
Love it
Awesome. I'm searching for sanders and already subscribe.

@@Mrypants31 that means a lot!!! Thank you very much ✌🏻😎👊🏻
@@klegraefe sick vids man!! i love what your doing !! and shit i found the R1 build vids... looks like its a late night again
It's coming together nicely 👌
Thanks Anthony. Hoping to get back into gear next month. These past 2 months have been real slow for me haha
Looking good Mini AF!! Looking good 😊
Appreciate it fry!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻😎😎
Looks fantastic mate. What's your process here; are you baking the paint for added strength or just drying the paint layer on low? Sorry I'm ignorant in good painting techniques but trying to learn
Ohh so this is powder coating, paint goes on as powder, then u bake it in the oven for 15 minutes at 400 degrees, it melts the powder and cures to the product leaving a nice level finish 😎 once it cools off, it’s fully cured ready to go 🙏🏻👊🏻
Wasn't a boot. That's a trunk friend. 😂

I really appreciate that🙏🏻🙏🏻😎😎 feel free to check my play lists. They should be in order if u haven’t seen the project from the very beginning 😅✌🏻
@@klegraefe i seen enough, ill now have to binge watch it all. Very cool content and edits are fire
You are slowly getting to Project Binky levels here chief, good work though, can beat a clubby front end 😉
What I really need is that big blue jig hahaha 😅
Great video dude! The correct drill size for M5 is 4.2mm. For the nut-cert try putting red loctite on , and if you do another cable pull catch, have a look at motorcycle pillion seat catches
Hmm 🤔 I’ve never heard of using red lock tight. Deff worth a shot!! I would imagine the motorcycle seat latch is small and packages well!? Ima check them out!!
Great video once again!
Appreciate you my man!!🙏🏻🙏🏻😎😎👊🏻
Nice work. You should really consider the secondary safety catch. Had a friends bonnet catch fail and it ripped the scuttle panel and broke the windscreen
Absolutely, I wouldn’t risk it with out it. There should be enough room to come up with something 😅🙏🏻😎
Great work. Will you put some Epoxy in the hole for the cable to avoid any possible slipping or am i going overkill?
I figured I’ll try this first and just kind of monitor for a while, the epoxy is a good solution and nice cheap security!! I think on final assembly that’s what I’ll do 🙏🏻🙏🏻
@@klegraefe Thank You for answering.
I think after getting in and out a few times you might just move it to a bracket by the side of the roll cage tube so it doesn’t obstruct ingress or egress.
@@philtucker1224 I see what you’re saying and agree, but if you watch towards the end. There’s a clip of me showing how much room there really is. Also to consider when the doors is attached to the car. The way it swings open, the door is more likely to b in the way if that makes sense. I should have added some different camera views 😅
Nice one. Very artistic
Appreciate it!!! 🙏🏻🙏🏻🙏🏻
The uk man in me was happy you called it a bonnet lol
I still make the occasional mistake with the boot as well 😂. Honest mistake 🙏🏻

MY GOD WHAT A LOT OF HEEE HAWIN AROUND TO CLEAN A BALLBEARIN PULL OUT THE SEALS AND WASH WITH GASOLINE A COUPL OF TIMES AND BLOW OUT WITH COMPRESSED AIR N PRESTO LESS THAN 2 MINUTS N YOUR DUN
Really I like just playing on the lathe 😅
After 60 years of fooling around with model aircraft engines, motor bikes and cars, best way I have found to clean old bearings is to soak them in paint stripper containg 83% methylene chloride and17 % methanol. Diggers paint stripper in Australia. After say 30 mins. rinse under a running cold water tap/faucet, then hot water and air line blow dry to drive out any water between the cage and the balls. Test and bearing should run for several seconds absolutely freely with virtually no noise. Then immediately soak in red automatic transmission fluid and zip lock bag it. If you have an irreplacable bearing like a Rossi 15 Mk I and II rear bearing (10.50mm bore!) and it feels gritty, try soaking in Evaporust for ~ 8 hrs., then cold and hot water rinse etc.
Next time cross drill at 1/3 and 2/3 for a plug weld.
I was going to but then realized for me it was unnecessary. I’m only saying this because both my other cars have very similar axles setups. One car is 6 years old and the other is 4. So far so good 😅😁
Nearly 2000 subs dude!!!! Well done. I think you had 12 when I started watching
Lmao 😂 I’m hitting a huge milestone 🙏🏻🙏🏻👊🏻👊🏻. I’m hoping to hit 2k this week ✌🏻
Why did you blow the air down into the intake instead of blocking it off and vacuuming
That part was done off the car in my vise, I just blew out the shavings. I no its hard to see hahha
Yes! Go on boy, give it some lol😂
I need to take this out again soon. It’s been a while hahaha
@@klegraefe You built it to have fun hey, so get out there and enjoy it! lol. Nice to see a little street vid 😊

Hell yeah🙏🏻🙏🏻🙌🏻 there such a hand full!!
Awesome work dude
Thank you man!! I can’t wait to stick the bumper on to see the proper look hahah
I recommend switching to DC Tecnic shoes for when you need to do English Wheel work.
I feel that!! The vans half cabs have a flat foot bottom. No good for rolling metal 😂
Unique. Great work as always. On Project Red you are going "Brass to the wall"
I think by now we can just call it the Brass Mini 😅😅😎
